Closed Suction Systems

  • Multiple access. Multiple procedures. One closed circuit. The BALLARD* Multi-Access Port Closed Suction System from AVANOS, features a compact rotating manifold that provides multiple ports to access the patient’s airway, without jeopardising integrity of the closed circuit. A closed circuit helps you protect your patient from cross-contamination, VAE and VAP3. Also available: BALLARD* Mini-BAL Sampling Catheter Designed for use with the BALLARD* Multi-Access Port System, insert the BALLARD* Mini-BAL Sampling Catheter through the alternate therapy port to obtain a lower respiratory tract sample without opening the ventilator circuit. • Proven to provide an 89% cleaner catheter tip7 BALLARD* Turbo-Cleaning Closed Suction System from AVANOS, which features technology from BALLARD* trach care, is the only catheter that retracts within a unique and isolated turbulent cleaning chamber. The turbulent cleansing action results in an 89% cleaner catheter tip compared to a standard closed suction system7. This reduced colonisation may help reduce risk of VAE and VAP in your ventilated patients. Manipulation of the ventilator circuit can increase cross-contamination – a leading cause of VAP.7 To help protect patients, a closed ventilator circuit is recognised as a best practice in the prevention of VAP3,5 to maintain ventilation and oxygen therapy throughout suctioning, preventing approximately 50% of the lung volume fall observed when suctioning after disconnection from the ventilator.4  Closed suctioning is a best practice that protects patients and caregivers.3,5 REFS: For references please refer to attached brochure - View Closed Suction Systems Brochure here
  • BALLARD* Mini-BAL Sampling Catheter Proven to enable a more accurate diagnosis for more targeted antibiotic treatment. The AVANOS BALLARD* Mini-BAL Sampling Catheter is a telescoping catheter that safely samples a patient’s lower respiratory tract secretions, giving physicians the data they need to make an accurate lung infection diagnosis and prescribe targeted antibiotic treatment.6 Using bronchoalveolar lavage as a tool to help diagnose lower respiratory tract disease has been shown to reduce both antibiotic usage and healthcare costs.2 The BALLARD* Mini-BAL Sampling Catheter has a soft, directional tip that allows safe and quick retrieval of lower respiratory tract samples. This can help avoid the false negatives and false positives seen in an estimated 23% of endotracheal aspirate cultures.2 These secretions from the distal airway can help identify infectious pathogens of the lung for a microbiologically confirmed diagnosis. Helpful features of the tool includes a suction tube adapter, directional oxygen port, atraumatic tip, and suction tube adapter. Clinicians have multiple models available to them, varying in the size of the outer EVA catheter and inner PVC catheter. The Mini-BAL Sampling Catheter comes EO sterilised in 13fr or 16fr. Designed for use with the AVANOS* Multi-Access Port System. REFS: For references please refer to attached brochure - View Sampling Catheter Brochure here
